SIMPLE ELEGANCE. That’s what I requested, and that’s what I got. A plain white 5x7 card with an embossed pearlized border. Simple, elegant, pretty, and PREDICTABLE. What I didn’t realize was that my wedding invitation could be so much more. Unfortunately, the invitation that I chose suggested nothing about the wedding that would follow. Sure, it conveyed the logistical information that our guests would need. But, did they realize they would be attending a candlelit mass on a snowy New Year’s Eve? Were they looking forward to a celebration that would take place at a quintessential New England Inn nestled within a forest of pine trees, fabulously decorated for the season? Did they realize that despite the quaint setting, a live band would play until two o’clock in the morning while guests toasted champagne to a new marriage and a new year?
Of course, it’s impossible to include such detailed information in the body of an invitation. Nor would you want to. Afterall, there is something to be said for an element of surprise! But, an effective invitation should suggest the type of party that guests are being invited to. It should also create anticipation for the event that you’ve likely spent the last year planning. And lastly, it should be a reflection of you...your personality and your style.
So, three years after sending my “simple, elegant, pretty, and predictable” invitations, I founded Paper Moon. My goal was to create a stationery “studio” where customers could come and receive assistance and advice from a knowledgeable, style-minded, intuitive staff. At Paper Moon, we help our customers select and customize invitations and announcements. We have a great selection of albums from well known stationery designers and manufacturers, but the essence of our service is in helping our customers design their own invitations. There is a unique element to every event, and we help customers convey the uniqueness of their event through their invitation. We have a wide selection of papers with different colors, patterns, and textures to choose from. All of our papers and card stock are professionally cut, scored, and drilled.
